the consent of His Majesty's Goverment to the resump-

tion of Chire se jurisdiction in the city of Kowloon,

and stating that "Lord Calisbury does not propose to

send any fur ther rep ly to the Chinese Government

the subject".

The matter seems to have been shelved by the

incidence of the Boxer Rebellion.
